read 13 of the big read books, and wonders if that list is designed to make people feel good about themselves.
I think it's meant to make you think "book X is way better than this crap, IT OUGHT TO BE HERE"
I'm pretty sure that the average number is skewed because of amount of people who have not read any books on the list
