they need a parenting manual
My ex wife has primary physical custody though
I have 3 rugrats and have faced almost all parenting challenges, whats up?
a time out in the corner or being sent to their room fixes almost all bad behaviors! Just sayin!
apparently lizzy didnt want our advice cause she is MIA agian
maybe we scared her off by the number of kids between us all? LOL
I'll take a kid if anyone wants to share
ok - my five year hit her teacher today....and they are referring us to a social worker....that does not sound good, does it?
JustJen doesnt understand the complexity of my job....
anytime a child gets violent in school at a young age they refer it to a social worker.
they figure they are lashing out based on goings on at home and want to ensure that child is not having physical issues at home
there is no longer (kids being kids)
just sounds like some anger issues. Has he/she ever done anything like this before? It sounds a bit dramatic for a first time thing
she has been "angry" since age 2....and both her Dad and I have had no idea how to deal with it
taking away her toys or priviledges does not work
she is a case for Supernanny
my son had that issue - she may need medications. She may actually have a medical reason
take her to see a psych through your medical for diagnosis
how does she do at school?
see what the social worker has to say, maybe they will have some good ideas on how to handle the unwanted behavior!
they won't - trust me... I suggest making a DR appt NOW BEFORE the social worker
her teacher does not want to see her put on meds - my daughter is bright and energetic but not ADD/ADHD
I know that because her older sister has that issue, and this is nothing like that
her teacher says as long as she keeps her busy, she is fine, but today - I guess not
my son is highly intelligent and has ADD
ADD in girls presents MUCH different than in boy
I HIGHLY recommend having her tested
they usually won't test until a certain age.
if the teacher is getting a social worker involved there is a MAJOR Issue at school and you are about to be blindsided
or once they start mainstream school (ie kindergarten)
they won't test here until 6 or 7, depending on the child!
she starts kindergarten this Fall....so this is her pre-school doing this
so that has me even more freaked out - can you imagine when she is actually IN public school?
JustJen - is your son 504 status then?
my older daughter has that status
if your oldest has it then it would follow that your youngest does as well
ok...so you think she should be tested for disabilities?
not disabilities - just add
kk - my older daughters school calls it a disability, so it's probably not but this is NC....
I gotcha though - guess we should tell the social worker thats what we are doing then
it is technically a disability
yeah and make the appointment NOW
so that when you hear from them you have a documentation
good call - I'm going to get my work wrapped up and make some calls
you rock girl!! (and thanks to everyone else who chimed in here or there)
Good luck sweetie! Keep us posted!
<-- parent of 3, 1 is ADD and type 1 diabetes, other 2 are bi-polar. i'm not having kids anymore.. I be done..
I would suggest going
JustJen route. If you show them that you are taking steps to intervene and work on this then it will be better.options
I appreciate your help
