JustJen
The Cap'n has 3
SaraCaraway says

a time out in the corner or being sent to their room fixes almost all bad behaviors! Just sayin!
JustJen says
apparently lizzy didnt want our advice cause she is MIA agian
SaraCaraway says
maybe we scared her off by the number of kids between us all? LOL

I'll take a kid if anyone wants to share
+elizabeth+ says
ok - my five year hit her teacher today....and they are referring us to a social worker....that does not sound good, does it?
+elizabeth+ thinks
JustJen doesnt understand the complexity of my job.... :-P
JustJen says
anytime a child gets violent in school at a young age they refer it to a social worker.
JustJen
they figure they are lashing out based on goings on at home and want to ensure that child is not having physical issues at home
JustJen
there is no longer (kids being kids)
SaraCaraway says
just sounds like some anger issues. Has he/she ever done anything like this before? It sounds a bit dramatic for a first time thing
JustJen
how old is the daughter?
BigO says
yup. i've got two.
+elizabeth+ says
she has been "angry" since age 2....and both her Dad and I have had no idea how to deal with it
+elizabeth+ says
taking away her toys or priviledges does not work
+elizabeth+ thinks
she is a case for Supernanny
JustJen
my son had that issue - she may need medications. She may actually have a medical reason
JustJen
take her to see a psych through your medical for diagnosis
JustJen
how does she do at school?
SaraCaraway says
see what the social worker has to say, maybe they will have some good ideas on how to handle the unwanted behavior!
JustJen
they won't - trust me... I suggest making a DR appt NOW BEFORE the social worker
+elizabeth+ says
her teacher does not want to see her put on meds - my daughter is bright and energetic but not ADD/ADHD
+elizabeth+ says
I know that because her older sister has that issue, and this is nothing like that :-(
+elizabeth+ says
her teacher says as long as she keeps her busy, she is fine, but today - I guess not
JustJen
my son is highly intelligent and has ADD
JustJen
ADD in girls presents MUCH different than in boy
JustJen
I HIGHLY recommend having her tested
JustJen
there are non-stim meds
SaraCaraway says
they usually won't test until a certain age.
JustJen
if the teacher is getting a social worker involved there is a MAJOR Issue at school and you are about to be blindsided
JustJen
its 5
JustJen
or once they start mainstream school (ie kindergarten)
SaraCaraway says
they won't test here until 6 or 7, depending on the child!
+elizabeth+ says
she starts kindergarten this Fall....so this is her pre-school doing this
+elizabeth+ says
so that has me even more freaked out - can you imagine when she is actually IN public school?
+elizabeth+
:'-(
+elizabeth+ asks
JustJen - is your son 504 status then?
JustJen
take her in
+elizabeth+ says
my older daughter has that status
JustJen
he was yes
JustJen
if your oldest has it then it would follow that your youngest does as well
JustJen
it IS heredity
+elizabeth+ says
ok...so you think she should be tested for disabilities?
JustJen
not disabilities - just add
+elizabeth+ says
kk - my older daughters school calls it a disability, so it's probably not but this is NC....
+elizabeth+ says
I gotcha though - guess we should tell the social worker thats what we are doing then
+elizabeth+
thanks JustJen et al
JustJen
it is technically a disability
