new position. been with K-2
k-2's for the last five years. gotta get my middle school feet back on.
what kind of help do you need?
They're definitely less needy but often they don't know as much as you think they would. They can sign up for MySpace or Facebook &
customize their page but don't have a clue how to do headers & footers on documents for example.
I can help. let me know what you need. did you get my message? I called today
it seems to be a position that was a tech class but little/no integration. hired me to help get more collab going. it is still a drop off
so what is the best way to get staff more involved. plus with no curriculum where do i start
got the nets down but looking at ways to build a collab tech curriculum that is integrated
That's hard. Do the teachers have blogs or do they send home notices about what they're doing? All my classes are drop off and I use
weekly newsletters for K-5 to do some integration with what they are doing in class.
For Middle School, sometimes they ask me. I can also see their lesson plans for the week and can have access to a text book.
i may look at the big ideas from the classrooms, come up with my own lessons based on NETS and try to get teachers involved to start.
what are some of the apps, 2.0, tech "things" that are middle school appropriate
i do not want to always be "teaching" more collab between students, too
I've used Glogster, Animoto, Google Docs
Look for collaborative projects that might work. For example, with my 7th graders last year I got involved in a Human Genetics project.
That's part of what they do in science and they surveyed the other middle schoolers, created spread sheets of our data, downloaded &
analyzed data from all the schools involved.
does the administration have specific goals in mind? For our school we want them to leave our school being able to test out of the required
basic tech class in high school. That means I have to spend some time on making sure they know basics of Microsoft Office and that they
type at a certain speed. Now, I try to use collaborative projects or projects that tie in to their classes to teach Office.
when I get back to town we can talk - I work with 5-6 too
I will be working with 7 & 8. let's have lunch before too long. can share lots with how thing went in previous district.
