Why do you think this is the case?

I can come up with many possible explanations but have no idea whether they are correct.

LL has been promoting Xstreet quite extensively to the exclusion of inworld sales, but it is poor for finding things with, and also...

this month is falling short of last month, so I suspect school starts are responsible.

It seems reasonable to assume that in-world sales will dip somewhat as xstreet sales rise.

If it's hard to find someone's stuff in xstreet (and it *is*) then that will impact also.

Xstreet is good for finding stuff. Bad for finding someone-in-particular's stuff.

to go Ordinal-shopping, but having something resembling income would make that ever so much easier.

uses Xstreet to find things in-world. Many merchants discount in-world purchases and have a wider variety of merchandise. Freebies, too.
