Why should I sit about providing cut and paste scripts for people who just want a free resource?

If I thought that, I would, and that is why I started there, but they won't and won't.

The number of posts where I even remotely suspect somebody cares is basically zero.

the scripting forums are a great resource, they sure did help me as a scripter to learn off examples and get really useful modular pieces

It is all "oh hai I need a lucky chair script lol".

It isn't really about the posters but the thousands of silent readers.

The thousands of silent readers can learn how to make a lucky chair script.

Let us be clear here: I started out by posting an awful lot on the SL scripting forums, and I like to think that I helped at least some.

Many others did the same.

But every time I return there it is worse, and even the most didactic person needs at least some response.

It used to be that there were people asking about and discussing all sorts of aspects of LSL; in the last few years, lucky chairs.

Let us not forget the deliberate crippling of the forums to prevent the posting of scripts.

I do have to agree that certain scripts shouldn't be proliferated freely, such as lucky chair scripts. But scripts that add positively 2 SL.

And every time I return I find the situation worse, and it makes me even more cross.

"Ordinal is never going back to the damned SL forums to post scripts" except for the next time.

I think the problem is that the scripting forums is a single channel. Everything gets thrown together, all the newbs+noobs and good scripts.

However it will all be thrown in with the Xstreet forums soon, and there will be no "non commercial" scripting forum.

Nexii: No, it isn't that, it is that most people who post there don't care about scripting and just want something to paste into a box.

People everywhere are full of entitlement. It's a defining quality of the human condition.

It's just more visible in this arena, in bulk.

your posts and freebies.

I must stop this sort of pathetic whinging. My being annoyed with SL in general is not the fault of a few souls wanting off-the-peg scripts.

I'm sure you could come up with an interesting lucky chair. An exploding one, for example.

Certainly if you don't feel that you're getting what you want out of contributing then you shouldn't be doing it.
