hmmm. i wonder if any plugins will export in smaller batches instead of all at once, so you can import 7mb at a time

(or whatever the limit is)

I was thinking of just copying and pasting the posts one at a time; there aren't that many. But I already set the old domain to redirect.

I'll have to undo the redirect first, which I guess won't take THAT long.

I'm not sure why the export xml was 20 mb. Do enclosures complicate matters? They shouldn't. It's just text.

20mb is a lot for not very many posts!

it's so weird that for once, phpBB gave mess fewer problems than Wordpress.

I should take my chances and mess with Joomla. If the trend continues, it should handle like a dream!
