Showing off the Microsoft Sphere.
showed an interesting concept of a remote control
now showing a very minority report-esque type of interface on a window. very cool!!
Minority Report came out 6 years ago - Science Fiction -> Reality in 6 years.
"We're using bodies evolved for hunting, gathering, and gratuitous voiloence for information-age tasks

How do we design for interactive Gestures?
he just went off on a tangent - hopefully he answers this question...
Touchscreen (aka TUI) single and multi-touch.
just said he didn't like the term NUI
Just referenced "The Clapper"
Free-form, wide-variety of forms.
The secret sauce: sensors
Common sensors: pressure, light, proximity, acoustic, tilt, motion, orientation.
Avoid putting essential features like a label below an interface element that can be touched, as it may become hidden by users hand.
inherent fear with "new" tech.
3 part equation: 1. the available sensors and input devices. 2. the task that needs to be performed. 3. the physiology of the human body
(this can be pretty straightforward)
The more complicated the gesture, the fewer people who are going to be able to perform it.
The complexity of the gesture should match the complexity of the task at hand.
"The best designs are those that 'dissolve into behavior.'" (Naoto Fukasawa)
"The best, most natural designs, are those that match the behavior of the system to the gesture humans already do to enable that behavior.
