Wouldn't it be great if flickr supported anything remotely similar to that?

Go to a photostream, hit spacebar and you land at the next unseen image from the last point you visited.

Go to a group, and have some simple way of "catching up" with unread messages.

"recent activity" should really be like google reader, it supports a lot of the functionality you're talking about.

So, I know about the spacebar trick on the wave, but it's not the same as Gmail.

In Gmail, in a thread of emails, when you open it, it takes you to the first unread email, instead of making you wade thru the earlier stuff

that you've read.

so, I expect the Wave to be the same.

as for Flickr, we do have some undocumented keyboard shortcuts; I like the ideas that G raised.
