totally agree. i'm not keen on karma. it adds a level of i'm more popular than you and turns chatting and friending into a game. bad move.

It's true. It feels like a wheeze. They should ditch it and focus on watching usage to polish the service and boost word of mouth.

I can see why it's like a pyramid scheme. The reason why nobody's karma isn't increasing is because you need to pay me up front!
