hello to all my Pc savvy friends! I has a problem with my external hard-drive. My bf just re-did the comp & it won't recognize it.

Hm... connect to other PC, make sure it can be seen. If so, VISTA isn't accepting the device for some reason.

It worked on the PC w/ Vista before I completely rebuilt it and reinstalled Vista...but now it doesn't recognize it.

It also doesn't show up on my MacBookPro or Steph's laptop w/ XP despite being a PlugNPlay drive w/ "no software needed" website support. =(

I fear the FAT is corrupt. I've never been able to fix this without wiping it clean and starting over. I'm hoping other have better

suggestions. I think you can repair it with 3rd party software (probibly some Linux work too.
