and I do mean to use quotes, since it's being used badly by some. MEH. PFFFFFFFFT.
if this is related to flickr somehow.
yes. There are some convinced that the AppGarden is a well of piracy, and it's disheartening to deal with the complaints.
people have their notions as to what constitutes infringement, I guess.
hm .. don't see much about piracy in the forum.
anyway, somewhat a situation of flickr's own creation. somewhat. you'll never be able to please the control obsessed.
they want "views", so are totally unwilling to use "privacy" - even though they want all the control privacy confers.
it's an impossible situation.
agrees. we had a comment on the picnik app ... should try harder to protect other people's photos seeing that they are a flickr partner.
too much false sense of security out there, I reckon
grumbles something about predicting this years ago grumble grumble.
yes, I saw a post of yours from years ago saying exactly that.
the problem is that all of these "security features" had zero thought or planning put into them.
people complained about "blog this" and with no thought at all flickr just added the ability to remove the button in response.
same with spaceball. that was conceived and coded in under an hour.
there was never any comprehensive thought put into the "sharing permissions system". it's a hodgepodge of ill conceived garbage "features".
these things just accumulated over the years, like the API "opt out" that's full of holes.
someone needs to actually plan out the system from the ground up it works properly and doesn't create unreasonable expectations.
yes, and unfortunately it's Cris here (and others) who have to deal with the fallout.
yea, actually, most of the above is on my plate to sort out. That's why I'm in the hell I'm in (and we don't just do Forum support).
these plurks would be better as a Wave maybe... if we want to amass real input and feedback. hehe.
criz is pretty much better aware of all these problems than any of us are, and has been seeing the same feedback for years.
oh fuck, yea, I have the arguments, pros/cons. At this time, I'm trying to steer user expectations, and that is the part that is...
you could do what heather did with "adult wall", which is basically to let people know what was coming about a year in advance : ]
