anyway the thing on my ceiling had like a two or three day period of just. going off for like 20 seconds at a time and then stopping, mostly in the earliest early morning

and i was like well damn i need to hide everything weird in here and have the landlord change the battery, i'm not buying a ladder for this (or a battery for that matter)

though i was suspicious???? bc it wasn't chirps, it was alarms, just that they stopped by themselves, usually exactly as i managed to get out of bed and find a pants

but then it just. stopped doing that, and i got all my weird shit back out and let my bedroom become a den of teawares and dog toys, and figured there had been like. a cobweb on a sensor or something

WRONG it has done it a couple more times now, like...over a month later. does Not seem to be a battery issue

even if it were just at the end of its life as a device not a battery, would it. stop doing that for months and then start back at random. shouldn't it do something else to let me know, than the thing it does if there's a fire or poison

All right, well if it is a carbon monoxide alarm then that's its signal that it is malfunctioning

If it is a fire alarm, change the batteries/check their connection

Supposedly you're need to change the batteries on a fire alarm twice a year but I never do LOL

If there is no fire and no damage to the alarm and it's not a carbon monoxide alarm, you can either try and reset it by holding down the test button for 15 seconds, and if that doesn't work, definitely gotta be batteries

If it is a carbon monoxide alarm or it is like, both that and a smoke alarm, yeah you need a new one

hmmm unfortunately i think it is both, though i suppose it could just be a fire alarm and we don't have carbon monoxide ones, i thiiink i remember the landlord mentioning it was both though maybe? man i don't think we have a fire extinguisher actually
