So pseudo word of god is that the Sonic Prime universe deletes itself in the end. So basically it was all for nothing. In that case, Shadow was likely at ground zero and was deleted first/saw the deletion begin.

Nine was the furthest from Green Hill so odds are he watched all of the destruction spreading and was the last to be deleted.

So we're going to canon update Shadow and Nine together to the ending, at which point, all they have are each other and Ellipsa.

And we'll be doing so within the week. Poor Shadow is going to be hit hard, and Nine's just going to double down on establishing his new life, but also try to understand what went wrong even though it can't be fixed.

So hopefully Sonic and Tails are up for helping these two work through their respective funks.

It actually occurred to me just now that doing this does leave room for Nine to open up to both Sonic and Tails more. mummifiedsalarian weaponget

Tails is always up for helping a friend. And Nine may not call him friend but dammit Tails does. XD

Well even if the universe hadn't ended, Nine's relationaship with his Sonic was repaired so he's tentatively open to friendship again.
