It does amuse me that in bushcraft/camping youtube there is a subgenre of video that is best summarized as "British person goes out to a rocky field or hill and has the worst time humanly possible."
Just some poor bastard in the middle of nowhere surrounded by fist to torso-sized rocks in constant wind and rain like, "it's pissin down innit? gonna make a tent out of this two quid tarp I bought, see if we can last the night."
And it's not like one guy does this, there's fucking dozens, and it's mostly what they make.
Like to the point that I think it's novel that there's one dude who mostly prefers woods and lets himself sleep in like, real boy tents. Or his car!
tl;dr for some reason British bushcraft dudes are like 90% masochists.
