I haven't eaten anything since Sunday.
Haven't drank anything since last night.
Arrival time is at 10:45am.
Turns out I'm not the only one of my cousins who had cancer surgery planned this past week.
A cousin who is 2 years younger and who has 6 goshdamded kids had a cancerous cyst the size of a baseball on his thyroid removed on Friday.
Good luck!!! I hope everything goes well!
raises hands to give goku you my power
everyone, lend me your energy
Spirit bomb the shit out of that cancer
good luck!! solidarity
GOOD LUCK!!! It's gonna be ok!!
My energy is heading your way!!
you're in my thoughts dude. hope all goes fine.
alive
very glad to see your survival for eternity
Well I learned some new things.
they're letting me go home today because I'm passing gas. that's good news.
in the slightly less good news category I didn't have colon cancer I had rectal cancer. which is different in which direction it was trying to spread.
and they are recommending a 6 week chemotherapy or radiation treatment for me.
but it's not going to be the chemo where you get the IV it's just going to be taking pills if I go that route.
Ah geez.... did the surgery help at all?
I mean it helped in that I no longer have a cancerous tumor in my intestine.
the 6-week course of radiation or chemo is to prevent reoccurrence.
I mean, if I left the cancer in my body it would kill me. so, six week of chemo is worth not that.
well i am glad they FIGURED IT OUT and there is still a course of action phew
Yeah goodness... I am so glad
oof. yeah, glad they figured it out
I'm not allowed to eat soft foods until I've had a bowel movement.
They gave me an opioid in the hospital.
All I'm allowed to eat is jello and clear liquids.
I haven't eaten food since Sunday.
I have a drain in my stomach that leads to a little blub that collects my body's wretched humours.
Last night it just started leaking from the incision in my side and it bled through the dressing
And so I called the doctor this morning going "hey this happened is this bad"
And they tell me "your body is probably doing this because it's trying to expel the plastic tubing in your side."
And I'm not even hungry anymore? Just living on sugar.
Wishing I could have a single bowel movement, but I don't dare push because I have 11 staples holding my stomach shut beneath my belly button.
I get home nursing visits but not every day, so they came yesterday and then again tomorrow. I have to change my own dressings on days they don't come and last night was. Fun.
I tried sleeping in bed the first night and getting in and out of bed was too painful so I slept in my recliner last night and I just don't sleep well when seated, even as far back as the recliner will go.
nnnnn body heal faster for chris pls
This morning. I was able to have a bowel movement.
Since then I have eaten: 1/2 cup of unsweetened apple sauce, 1 cup of chicken noodle soup.
I am trapped between the desire to eat more and my body going "hey buddy maybe not."
I've had more food. 1.25 cups of rice. 1 cup of miso soup. 3 small pancakes.
The nurse visited me this afternoon and looked at my bandages and proclaimed them "done correctly" and my wounds were "not visibly infected"
I might be brave and try a scrambled egg on a slice of toast tomorrow.
good progress good progress
have you been able to get better sleep?
I've been sleeping in my recliner which didn't work out so well the first night but I managed to sleep from about midnight to 7:00 a.m. last night.
I am so sorry this has been such an experience, but you're gonna get through!!! Every day it's gonna be a little better
Me: I wish I could just poop again.
Monkey's Paw: [curls one finger]
as I was going to bed last night my body is like hey you know what you have now? diarrhea.
so I went to bed an hour later than I wanted to at midnight and I woke up after only 5 hours having to go again, and took an hour to fall asleep afterwards again and then woke up at like 7:30.
I'm sorry you're going through this, and I wish you a speedy recovery!
spent an hour taking a shower because I have to wrap my midsection up in plastic wrap and it's an ordeal and I have to change my dressings right after I have my shower
it's me and my spiteful body
I have three laparoscopic incisions two above the belly button and one just beneath, the incision below the belly button, and The Wretched drain tube that comes out of my side.
woof! That is a Lot. Do you have anyone in the area around to help you around the house?? I can't imagine that has been easy to do with all those incisions.
