it is so hard to find both doydoys and put them in a safe environment without dying 999 times!
I still haven't found this world's volcano, so I'll have to stay faaar away from doydoy island when summer comes.
(For those who don't play, each Shipwrecked world only generates two doydoys, which are on separate islands and can potentially be killed by all kinds of things if we don't pick them up immediately on finding them and move them to a place where they can't wander into snakes or lureplants or killer bees or whatnot.
The doydoys can only multiply when brought together.)
Isn't it cute
It bounces up and down flapping its itty wings~
omg congrats on your bird family I love this game
Aaaaah, that sounds adorable!
I'm so happy tallbirds can create new nests now, too! Time to populate all the islands with giant leg eye birbs
I keep coming back and looking at the picture.
the trouble with tallbirds is that as soon as they're grown up they want to kill you, but I love 'em anyway
Oh noooo, lol, no longer friends! 🤭
It's very silly! I just want to collect all the birbs!~~
How many birbs are there?
In the regular Don't Starve survival world, there are pengulls, who leap out in flocks when you get close to the sea in the winter, lay eggs in patches of ice, and disappear later! They can't be hatched or kept long-term because they leave for summer, but they toddle around making "mweh!" noises and being generally cute.
Doydoys are exclusive to Shipwrecked (islands-on-the-sea vs regular-continents), and tallbirds appear in both.
There's an array of regular-type birds who fly around and drop/eat seeds depending on the seasons and the type of Don't Starve world. The regular world has crows all year round, robins in the summer, and bluejays in the winter; Shipwrecked has parrots (and parrots with pirate hats), toucans, and seagulls.
(Idk if there are more in Reign of Giants or Hamlet because I mostly use Survival or Shipwrecked.)
All of these except the seagulls can be caught and kept in a cage, and they'll give you fruit/vegetable seeds if you give them fruit and eggs if you give them meat (or cooked meat, I can't remember)!
The eggs are the same as the pengull eggs and they can be used in a lot of Crockpot recipes.
Those birds can't be hatched but they're around all the time in their proper seasons or if you catch and keep one.
The weird bird on the right in the picture is Packum Baggims (also a Shipwrecked exclusive), a flying pelican with several useful inventory slots who follows you around if you find him! There's only ever one of him, but he comes back in a few days if he gets killed.
Since he flies, he can follow you around when you're on a boat.
Aaaaah, they all sound great! And what fun names! I had no idea there were that many birds in the game!
THE FAMILY GROWS
bonus: lil toucan hanging around to observe the fence-building!
and yay, found the volcano! now I can chill the rest of the year and focus on base-building without worrying about falling rocks in the summer!
Awesome! The teenage ones are cute, too!
The toucan is so fun!
Whoo!
I think doydoyd max out at 20 per world, so I'll have to bring a couple to the Volcano (which generates a separate map within the map) so there can be more.
Oh that's fun! Doydoys everywhere!
Don’t Starve is HARDFor those who haven't played, this rundown is pretty accurate, but also I
cannot remember where that song is from and I
really want to
(pretty sure it's deltarune or maybe undertale?)
(wait no, I think it's the fan game Undertale Yellow)
Oooh, I'll have to watch it sometime!
It's a boss fight song! My favorite from the UT:Yellow first chapter soundtrack.
Trivia I just saw: some of the characters can grow beards, which provide warmth and a space or two of extra storage, and can be shaved with a Razor. The lumberjack character Woodie, however, spawns with a full lumberjack beard which cannot be shaved. When asked why, the devs said "Maybe it's not hair."
That's fun that the beards are so useful! 🤭 And that the lumberjack beard is special, that's so weird. 🤭
