Met with the oncologist today.
And I was handed a one-page handout before he showed up to tell me about how great he is.
Legit I cannot imagine me opening up a class by handing everyone a one-page bio
Oh my god Chris that’s such good news
Anyway, Dr. Coolguy McWellrounded told me that based on how early my cancer was (stage one) that based on the surgical removal, chemo wasn't recommended.
Whoops, left one of his names in a place. OH WELL JUST DON'T STALK Me you already know where I work.
I'll be having Regular Colonoscopies for awhile.
And he did recommend me for genetic testing, just in case there's something weird hanging around in my DNA.
So I am getting my genes examined.
I'm getting back to be able to eat vegetables and fruits again. Looking forward to being able to eat out and have options.
That is so so so good to hear!!!
it's very strange to have such a bland cancer diagnosis.
I've got one cousin who is about 10 years older than me who is dealing with breast cancer and she had to have weeks of chemotherapy sessions that left her so weak she could barely take a shower and followed by weeks of radiation therapy.
I have another cousin who I will just say is kind of an idiot, who ignored a growth in his neck and it turned out to be a cancerous tumor on his thyroid that my mother described as baseball-sized
and he's not on top of getting back in for more treatments because he doesn't want them even though he had a tumor the size of a baseball on his thyroid
and I'm over here like yeah I had a foot and a half of my colon removed and now I'm done.
that cousin had his surgery to remove the tumor and half of his thyroid gland the same week I had my surgery
he's 2 years younger than me, and has seven kids with number 8 on the way. five with us first wife and two plus with his second wife.
he more than anyone should be doing everything in his power to get healthy. because he has so many children that probably don't want a dead parent
for whatever reason there is this mentality that manly men Walk It Off rub some dirt in it Hank Hill their way through life.
and I legitimately think that's what's holding him back. he doesn't want to be seen as weak. he's obsessed with Biblical manliness.
I am so glad to hear that you don't need any chemo!!! Sad about your cousin though, the men in my family do that all the time too. My father nearly went blind because he refused to treat his type 2 diabetes reliably.
"its weak to need help" my guy its stronger to live
right!? like damn man, get it together
