so ... it's possible that I missed it, because I was doing some of the msq while working, but do we know how caihua died?
I don't think it was specifically brought up, no
Yeah I tracked down a German wiki that went so far in depth about her I think they were straight up inventing some lore, but they didn't say how she died
Soooo it's a mystery! For now anyway, maybe we'll learn more in post patches
I did translate it to English so if you can read German you might glean a bit more info idk
so my biggest thread for Stuff from here onward is Preservation because we never found out anything else about them other than that Robor and Alayla worked for them and were hunted down after they were like, NOPE
so this will be veeery interesting.
okay none of that seems invented
half the lore was discussed before the dome with the friend of hers that Erenville looked up at the train station town
Okay I didn't remember the master of weaponry stuff, though it does fit
that she was a master marksman yup I do remember that
I am also very interested in Preservation
I have. One more alt to get through before I start tackling the side quests and I'm sure some more hints will be dropped there
Yeah I need to get through the side quests in the last three areas
I haven't even tackled the job quests
role quests. w/e it's early
see my biggest thread for stuff is that we... can't actually permit the soul cell system to continue?
because it'll gradually suck the souls out of the source into itself the same way it did their world
I mean we did kind of wrecked the facility
Yeah we stopped the system
like post game people are still wearing their regulators but at least this far I've taken it more as comfort / having some leftover soul cells / habit rather than anything else.
Anyway ... I loved a lot of a lot of things here. My real crying was on.... the first area of last zone. (There were tearing ups at other points but my crying on first run was there)
Also they built those models dammit they're going to stay that way /out of universe reason
I cried so hard all through the final zone lmao
My big sadness was that they went in a direction with Sphene that was very close to Meteion, both visually and emotionally. The similar-yet-different attempt I think detracted from making her stand on her own. But overall, I did get pulled in emotionally
I probably would have gotten pulled more if I'd gotten further in ffix than like. Two quests into Lindblum, but still
A friend explained that it was supposedly in reference to what happens in 9/an au of those events
But it is very close to Meteion yes
yeah no, I did get enough of that
the final piece re Sphene, that the one we see was adjusted by Preservation, made a lot of what they were doing make sense (and the Meteion similarities stronger)
as in, she is, ultimately, a creation with a purpose she can't escape from and it breaks her
I might end up adopting two boys for rp. Possibly. Need to see if fussy little bunbun will stay in touch or just fuck off to adventures a la estinien
grandson lands squarely in my 'complicated kids' type
I looooved that we were now the mentor rather than the one doing the journey. I loved loved LOVED how much they let Wuk Lamat grow
It's not often that a male writer will take on a lady main character AND pull it off
OH also Ketenramm is making me consider making a male roe character for the first time
(And I say as having completed the msq first in .... four expansions in a row with my femroe)
overall. I was given a LOT of wondeful new characters to keep me engaged. I love all expansions, but this is the first one since stormblood that gave me so many side-but-important characters (in sheer numbers) that I adore. (Endwalker is complicated because it had an amazing side cast but the best of them had all been previously introduced)
... and on ew introduced characters
the fact that Koana was explicitly, Estinien and Alphinaud helped me get Vrtra here had me going all, OT3 OT3 OT3 (don't at me, yes, I know.)
COMBAT. The red popups during fight are kind of driving me nuts because it's a new thing I have to actually read and process
OTHER THAN THAT I'm liking the faster pace
the last trial took one wipe and I died ... a few more times than I should have (that's on me). Healer lb3 was used twice. I did go in as smn and was rezzing consistently, too
the walls section just broke my brain a little
oh oh oh. ALso someone said 'Wuk Lamat has her own Emet-Selch' and that was ver apt.
okay current theory:
key was created by azem in the days between zodiark and the sundering in an attempt for an alternative to rejoining
after it was used for the 5th calamity exodus, it ended up on the unknown shard
preservation is ascians prepping the shard for a rejoining, hence they could operate the key
I do not think the Alexandria shard is 12 th, as of now
i am leaning more toward it being not that yeah
but i do think it is a rejoined Reflection
they just found a way to put themselves in a bubble
I think the rejoined ones completely cease to exist
so there wouldn't be anything for the bubble to be in
but I may be very wrong about that
the implication they're gunning for is definitely that it is an unrejoined reflection
and I'm putting a tenner on "beyond the bounds of living memory" being where our A raid is
alliance raid is ffxi not ffix but they might pull it off
yeah but it's also "echoes of" which implies some amount of Dead Stuff to me at this point
yeah I'm looking forward, even with the themed raids we've had mixes
I vaguely remember seeing it now, I just don't always parse things the first time I read them
Or perhaps I should put it like 'i don't always fully process information the first time I see it'
that's fair, I'm doing this on my second alt so I thought I might cap it
