[Politics PSA] For everyone following the coconut memes that have gone up around Kamala Harris, please be careful about how you use it and the context because "coconut" also gets commonly used as a slur against brown people (Desi, Latino, some SEAsians), as an insinuation they act/wanna be white.
Because if you use it to a brown person's face and they DON'T know the context/story it will not be a good time.

As half desi I can honestly state a lot of desi folk are obsessed with proximity to whiteness and assimilating with western culture (which is a whole long ass novel to explain), while also having a lot of internalized racism toward other desi folks.
