Yo, comatosebutterfly --- Just saw about the wildfires attacking the beautiful Jasper Nat'l Park there in Alberta, how far is that from you, and are you experiencing bad AQ? There's goddamned fires all over Canada, I'm just sick for y'all.
Jasper’s pretty close-ish. 4.5 hour drive into the mountains? but yeah, the air’s bad. it hasn’t been as hard to breathe, but it’s been super hazy lately
I just can't believe the HEAT in Canada any more these days...it's insane that places like Lytton, BC can go into the 110s F. IT'S CANADA. Not Arizona!
But on a somber note, I did see the devastation of Jasper on Twitter this afternoon. I've never been to Alberta, but I have heard that it is a provincial treasure, and to see this happen just broke my heart. Goddamnit, I hate capitalism...END-STAGE capitalism, especially. Beautiful, natural creations like that deserve to flourish, not perish. Makes me sick.
yeah, it’s a gorgeous spot. I haven’t been as often as I probably ought to, since it’s so nearby. I’m just hoping they can rebuild to some extent once the fires are out
