I tested positive for Hepatitis B antibodies (NOT for Hep-B) for a second time through the place I donate blood. Two strikes means a permanent deferral from donating blood.

can you still donate for research? years ago they wouldn't take my donations because I had recently gotten a tattoo (in a reputable place from a licensed person but it didn't matter then) and I stayed on a regular donor schedule because they took my blood for research instead of donation

they even paid me a small amount for it

so you're still helping people, just not as directly
