So the Dredge is the psychic manifestation of a whole town of people's bad feelings, he is basically what Limetown would have gotten as a licensed killer if that series hadn't utterly fucked itself trying to spin off into a multimedia empire. He has two powers we want to talk about for this video.
First, it can teleport between lockers! The same ones survivors can hide in. If it lands in one at the same time as a survivor you get a darkly comedic scene of the outside of the locker banging and bumping around, and the dredge comes out having auto-downed them and picked them up. Its a fast teleport but not instant, and survivors can lock lockers.
And locked lockers take like 5 seconds to break out of.
The other notable power the Dredge has is Nightfall. As you play the match a small meter fills up the more you interact with the survivors, and when it fills up you hit Nightfall. In Nightfall all survivors have their visual range reduced to about 3 meters in pitch blackness, and the killer gets to see them light up in white outlines.
While in Nightfall, the Dredge is Undetectable (no clues he's around the game usually gives when the killer is nearby) he moves a little faster, his teleport is twice as fast, and if someone moves near a locker it's in it gets Killer Instinct - a sort of tracking mechanic. Nightfall only lasts 60 seconds.
So he is playing with specific add-ons and perks to be a real amazing bastard.
The add-ons are simple. Field Recorder makes it so that you automatically have a Nightfall at the start of a match, and when the last generator is powered and you enter the endgame of a DBD match. As we established, Dredge is crazy strong in Nightfall. The other is the Boat Key which means when the last gen is complete, all locker locks break.
So he instantly goes into power-up mode and the counter to his teleport fails.
He has 4 perks too. The first is good old Hex: No One Escapes Death. NOED is the big bad villain of DBD perks for survivors, it's an asshole move that makes it that once the generators are done, every non-active totem activates and while it's active the killer is faster and can one-shot down survivors.
Most people learn not only how to play against NOED but when to suspect a killer has brought NOED. The counter of course is to just go do generators, because most killers bring it as insurance and if it fails well, they got nothing, ggez.
The hilarious part is this man has brought NOED as a distraction.
The real meat of this build is from Game Afoot which makes you faster when you chase the survivor with the obsession status, but also makes it so if you hit a survivor and you've chased them longer than anyone else during the match, you make them the new obsession.
And you pair that with Rancor - Rancor only does anything when the last generator is powered, but when it is the obsession is permanently Exposed (aka can be downed in one hit) and also when they're downed you can kill them.
And last but not least Blood Warden - if you hook someone while in endgame you block the exits for 60 seconds.
So this guy pretends he has to go AFK early in the match and survivors usually run around teabagging him and locking all the lockers and flashlight clicking and all that fun stuff, until that last generator kicks on.
Then suddenly it's Nightfall. Suddenly all the locker locks are permanently broken. Suddenly everyone is Exposed. Well fuck he has NOED, time to go do totems while we handle this false AFKer. Maybe someone else rushes getting the exit open.
You hit and knock down and hook the obsession. Now Blood Warden's active so the guy opening the exit is wasting his time.
Everyone spends time doing totems to break your NOED. That's fine. You chase after someone, hit them, they turn into the new obsession, you hit them again, you kill them on the spot.
Even then most people aren't going to be aware enough to realize you didn't just bring a Mori, the item that lets you kill one survivor.
And then you kill another.
And the last two probably panic because you are running some off-meta nightmare build.
I have to applaud this mad genius
