My new neurologist is a Whirlwind and she is Not messing around. She is determined to get my chronic migraines under control.

She ordered a full lab panel including allergies, an ekg, and a head/brain/neck MRI. She went over everything I've tried and how much it worked/why I stopped various options.

She's changing my preventative to one of the new options, is keeping Botox on the table as a possibility, and is also putting me in touch with a chronic migraine study. She's also taking me off triptans as my abortant because I've had lockjaw from two different types. I now have not one but 3 abortants with an order of operation to them.

And the mildest of which would be safe to take every day if needed. It's a muscle relaxer that shouldn't cause drowsiness and is mostly for waking up with a headache(9 days out of 10 tbh). Then I have one abortant for if the migraine has started/I get the aura before the headache.

The third is for either if all else fails or if I wake up Because of pain and am in full blown migraine/who knows when it started. Because it should work to stop it a lot further into the migraine than the other two.

So yeah. I'm optimistic. I know the EKG was fine. I have had an MRI before and while it's been 10 years, my migraines haven't changed symptoms so like I'm sure that'll be fine too. I'm... honestly curious if there's any food allergies I wasn't aware of. Because if I can eliminate a food and get fewer migraines that'd be 10000% worth it.

The first of the results are in and I have no idea what to do with them. My hemoglobin/hemocrit are a hair high which is a thing T can cause, I'm supposed to fix it by donating blood. But uhhhh... looks like I have an iron deficiency without anemia. I. How?

None of the allergy results yet so that's still a mystery.

But! I have the muscle relaxer and took that and my ubrelvy sample and though I've def been sitting on the edge of a migraine all day, it's never properly hit. So like. Abortants successful so far. Will need about a month on the preventative to see how that's working.

Only one test remaining. All is clean except the low ferritin basically. I think the slightly high things were mostly under hydration (Which is annoying because I'd refilled my 40 oz water cup TWICE that morning, so I thought I was fine)

No allergies showing at all, not even seasonal ones which is a bit odd since I know I get stuffy and sneezy in early spring. I mean, I'm super sensitive to scents. Everything being in bloom might just cause overload I guess? IDK, still weird.

Anyway. Between the weather cooling and I think the muscle relaxer at the start of headaches, there's been a notable drop in migraines already. So like. I'm hopeful!

Aaand insurance is fighting two of these meds. (The preventative which I'd argue is the most important, and the last ditch effort abortant that can help more later into the migraines) >.<

Preventative approved heyooo. So long as it's filled by sometime tomorrow, I won't have to skip any days of it :-D

The manufacturer coupon is not an option if the insurance doesn't approve a med. So the final line of abortants just got thrown out the window. It means I once again don't have a really ideal med for a few hours into a migraine, but I'm still better off than I was before so like. Heyo.
