like the fucked up shit Israel is doing or whatever political bullshit is popping up is BAD but it's news and important and not the worst brunt of it

what kills me is when I click on any one of them

and see literally dozens of people all loudly agreeing with the horrible shit

this is also why doomscrolling is bad for me

I think, by which I mean in my healthier moments I choose to believe

that Twitter gives a very severely exaggerated impression of how fundamentally evil the average person is

both because as Rama says it explicitly amplifies evil people by design

and also like. I just think The Average Person isn't arguing on twitter

The important thing to remember is there are not actually that many people at all on Twitter

these people are too-online freaks

(derogatory)

unlike us, the cool too-online freaks

It's basically a trap for a certain kind of person

That person being, usually, folks who are some combination of ADHD or Autistic

Also bots

Just so many fucking bots

yeah a ton of them are just bots

twitter isn't representative of humanity it's representative of uh, mostly bots by volume and a minority of extremely loud chuds

It also amplifies being awful, and a lot of people, even those I agree with, are just like, the worst

I've been "enjoying" watching the TTRPG blow up a small PoC-oriented convention and helping my org that usually goes to said convention exit as gracefully as we can while thanking god I hadn't bought my plane tickets yet

oh no

i swear by this extension - you can tweak exactly what you see on twitter and that has helped it still be usable for me

it also makes blocking faster, which is a very good thing
