The skintone variety, too!!!
I was trying Kynseed out first because I had purchased it first, and that game is BEAUTIFUL but I think just slightly off my wavelength
by contrast, I'm not as into this visual style but the vibes are immediately SO good
kynseed's pixel art is gorgeous but the game is kind of like
twenty minigames stapled into one game
and like. not to cast shade but it was made by ex-Fable devs and you can feel that.
oh you mean how the game feels like it's being a weird dick about every npc?
I WASN'T EVEN ALLUDING TO THAT SPECIFICALLY BUT YES
mostly I was thinking about like. the time system and legacy and family management etc. the Scope.
I just want to bip around in a nice world picking flowers and absorbing story at my own pace and not have The Terrible Fae Bargain That Will Kill My Character At Age 50 hanging over my head
at least in stardew the terrible fae bargain is "grandpa's horrible bed"
OH LOOK AT HER SHE'S SO PRECIOUS. LOOK AT HER LITTLE BEADED LOCS
Mistria's character design does not miss
Every day I live in anguish that I cannot date Olric
and man the entire fanbase wants to date Olric and I cannot blame them one bit. Bet it's gonna happen one way or another
(even if that way ends up being mods lmao)
I can only assume Olric is not dateable because if he was, no one would date anyone else /nods sagely
I want to agree but everyone is at least equally rabid about March sooooooo
ohhh shit you can just kinda change your look at any time huh
only thing you can't change is your birthday, pretty much
There's lots of additional character customization to unlock, actually there's even a way to save outfits so you can quickchange into them!
actually like everyone is hot
balor activates my I-watched-Slayers-as-a-teen neurons. ryis has beautiful kissable lips. hayden is a hot ossan. reina is just fuckin cute. valen is valen.
why can I only shake trees and not chop them down...
chopping trees is for axes
ohhh wait I think I figured it out
I don't fully understand the "use tool (charged)" distinction but that's the key I have to press to use the axe on a tree
the worn tools don't charge, but upgrades will charge up if that button's held
OH I see. It's because I remapped the primary interaction to just LMB, which it turned out was fine for smaller things, but somehow ended up causing the shake interaction to override the "use the tool you are literally holding at this exact second" interaction
there's a "use tool (repeatedly)" option that you can keymap but I believe is unset by default that lets you hold the button to use the tool repeatedly instead of tapping to repeat the action
okay I now have a control scheme that lets me comfortably click to use tool and hold to keep using tool, but the price is that my main interaction is the default of E and I'm just
ALL I WANT TO DO IS CLICK
maybe I can have tool use set to RMB...
god he's a dilf
... omg that's so considerate
I play on controller, so I cannot help in regards to comfy control schemes for mouse and keyboard play
man you know what I really like
I like how Adeline and Eiland are consistently just fuckin, everywhere
Adeline is a Certified Workaholic
like the opening scene already makes it clear that these are Nobles Who Do Their Fucking Jobs, but seeing them flitting all over town through the day really reinforces it
the shops still functioning even when the shopkeeper steps away is such a HUGE QoL feature
omg NERD
D&D is the best Friday Night At The Inn subplot
adeline
wait. wait. fuck. valen is romanceable.
I was holding out for the dragon but it looks like he's not available yet in this version anyway so
I can't believe Holt is just Dad Joke: The Character
BAD BRAD THE BEARDED BARD (please use his full name and title)
omg she's cute
I was rocking overalls until the exact second I realized I could have a cape
this current outfit is giving me some kind of gender euphoria
cape go swoosh in much the same way as skirt go spinny.
man. at some point I'm going to have to choose between Valen and Balor. my life is suffering.
I hope you have fun! Fields of Mistria has been such a treat. It's been a long time since a new farming sim became a legit time void for me and this one ate up 48 hours before I knew it.
I am absolutely having a great time yes
Also just
so adorbs, as a friend said, "I would shank the world for this child"
I WANT TO SUPPORT HIS ACADEMIC ENDEAVORS
barges in on March in bed to shove ore in his face
Ooh, I do love farm sims. But I get choice paralysis with Stardew Valley, with how many ways there are to set up your farm
This looks more simplified, which could be perfect
shakes your hand VIGOROUSLY on "Balor activates my Slayers neurons" and "oh Valen is romancable? /sweats"
littulkittons: yeah you get the farm pretty much as-is, there's a lot of decorations you can craft later but it's very straightforward to just get in and get farmin
this game is a bisexual nightmare
ngl I might actually romance Balor first just because I am THAT big a Slayers nerd (also Xellos is my fave)
I usually don't even care about the NPC romance in these sorts of games
it is also very metatextually funny that the first NPC your character meets in-game is this Xellos-looking motherfucker
and he's just. he's just the merchant.
he's not even mysterious he's just a guy who sells stuff and has a wagon.
I keep seeing people theorizing he has some kind of weird secret in his backstory, like he's a runaway prince or something
so I'm kind of super intrigued to see if there actually is anything we find out in the full game
And like, if there isn't that will also be pretty great (and funny)
either he's got something juicy hidden or he's that Xellos-coded for no reason at all
second friday night at the inn. see, Eiland, this is why you do a session zero.
I love... what a history nerd he is
I feel like I unlocked the Saturday market too soon. sad grabbyhands at all the cool shit I have no money or pocket space for
fortunately, at this point in early access, at least, they don't have enough potential stock for it to rotate as much as the characters make it sound like it will
I am crying tears of blood trying to get a single damn trout
I gotta say I really feel like the time goes Too Fucking Fast in this game
The rarity on stuff like fish and bugs seems to still be a bit wonky on early access. Something will be noted as "common" and you won't see a single one for two weeks
and YEAH that is by and large the fandom consensus, days just a bit too fast
especially when you're fishing. this game goes way too fast to have Animal Crossing-style fishing
Would you be willing to dip your toes into modding to adjust that?
nah, I'll live with the early access weirdness
Ok! I'm gonna bet they'll do something about time on full release. I'm kind of hoping for a few different speed options so people can adjust to their preferences
that would be so nice if they did, damn
It's like the number one single complaint about the game so I'd be shocked if they didn't do anything lol
I was eventually able to adjust to the pace but man I still felt pretty strangled for time constantly
I would die for this chicken, as is her rightful due
YOU CAN CRAFT WITH STUFF YOU HAVE IN ANY STORAGE???
THIS IS THE BEST FARM SIM I HAVE EVER PLAYED
oh noooooo I got too caught up in things and forgot friday night at the inn!!!
wooo got my first spell \o/
god I want to know how we can romance the dragon
I begin to understand why everyone wants olric to be romanceable
oh she's so real for this
welp, I sure hope Balor can sell out-of-season forage sometimes, or else Valen's going to be waiting a long time for this morel
oh good, looks like he can
summer looks
Ryis hasn't grabbed me personality-wise, he's perfectly pleasant but that's all. however, I have eyes
oh shit he's got a badass scar
