Spent the ride home trying to rationalize if both films would have been better had it not used comics IP. Concluded with no. First film maaayyybe. This second film hells naw.

The trailer suggested rollicking insanity. A bulk of the film was benign courtroom drama. I fell asleep.

While I understand this is a different Elseworlds-ish take of the character, all the choices they made on this one still felt insulting.

They sure sped run some extra tragedy in the last quarter. The implication that he inspired the ~ r e a l J o k e r ~ was just ass.

I would much rather and sooner rewatch Dancer In The Dark a dozen times than rewatch this.

And yes, did not care for the first film either.

Have no real urge to watch this or the first one. Everything I hear about it just drives more disinterest.

How true that this is a musical btw???? Is that filmbros' overreaction to a musical number or two thrown in or true naman?

This is one of those movies I'm not so inclined to watch. (Never saw the first one either.) But the reactions have me intrigued haha

anondrogynous: The impression you'll get if ever you watch this is that its a musical that seems embarrassed to be a musical. All the musical numbers in the film are random add do not propel the story whatsoever. It felt like "well we have Gaga, we might as well make this a musical".

My best guess in terms of overall intention is the director saw how the character was becoming some kind of Incel god and decided to really knock him down many pegs in the sequel.

So i've been seeing in stories from the WB indo IG account how they made the premiere here a whole big cosplay deal. Which is really, really sad knowing how the movie is far from something that warrants such treatment.
