ok, I can see how the adjustability could be handy, but otherwise how is this different from using a ruler?

and I can see how it'd be useful for certain perspectives but the segments are all the same distance apart

I find it hard to eyeball the intervals at which lines get closer together as they approach the vanishing point, but this tool doesn't do that
