i translate tons but i never... actually thought about making it look pretty?

but i've never had to think about recreating actual comic text

ugh i don't like this... i just want to write words and have someone else fill in the fancy artsy stuff if that's what's needed

i'm out of my depth. i think i will just do what i always do and provide words.

Sorry I'm no help, but thank you for doing the work. I don't read much manga these days but it's SO cool how much easier it is to find translations online than when I was at my peak weeb in high school.

aw, tbh half my inclination to translate is for that very reason

i also remember a lot of terribad translations (I could tell what the Japanese must have been based on how bad the english translation was) and so i just... enjoy trying to make the english access world a better place? XD

Oh yeah, I mostly gave up on them after only being able to find stuff that was so incomprehensible or obviously wrong that I couldn't enjoy it.

I always felt a little frustrated as a teen when i could tell how bad a translation was in the early Japan Boom days... like i could have done it better without even seeing the original japanese 8|

but now, thankfully, things seem better

I've done a bit of this

combination of just deleting what's in the bubble and using the clone tool to smudge the backgrounds around over text that isn't in bubbles
