as far as i know this is the first time we're actually getting this move in a game!!!**
**i dont actually know a Whole Lot about the meguca games. the psp game might have had it for all i know but not that ive heard of. at the very least, in the modern games
and the reason why is actually pretty cool!
kyoko's moveset changes the most out of all the holy quintet across her timeline and it maps to her character arcs and thats just neat by itself
in different story, she still had her illusion magic in the first half, and she fought differently as a result. after her family died, she lost access to that power because she rejected her wish, and had to re-learn how to fight
the second half of DS involves kyoko gradually regaining some of those abilities, though her skill in them had atrophied from disuse
in madoka magica, we see her post-wish-rejection combat style, and even in the end, she doesnt find her illusion magic again. her final move when she's putting an end to oktavia is one that wasnt shown prior -- and hasnt been shown since, either
in rebellion and the concept movie, we still see her same madomagi fighting style
in magia record, which presents an alternate timeline to madomagi but NOT to different story kyoko is in her madomagi fighting style, and her ultimate is still unrelated to the oktavia move. even in her alternate forms, we never see it, because her development is entirely different!
--oh no that wasnt meant to be strikethrough whoops
anyway, kyoko does get new stuff in magireco, culminating in her doppel form where she fully embraces herself again for the first time since her family died
and now, in magia exedra?
we're getting the oktavia move.
because!!!!!!!!!! exedra is specifically about an outsider discovering the stories of various magical girls, which means we're going to revisit a bunch of stories we already know and love but in a new format
which means we're going to get a fresh depiction of kyoko's arc in relation to sayaka
and while this is something thats honestly really easy to predict, based on what we already know about exedra
i just think its cool to see it reflected in kyoko's moveset, following through her trend thats existed since the series started to expand
