i'm just so tired of these people. we can accept no help from anyone and despite all searches saying that the generator can be run for days in a row as long as you check the oil periodically in between gas changes...

they still find ways to deny help and do dumb shit that they'll regret later

but when i cry in frustration over the heat somehow i'm being unfair to them.

i don't know where you're at but this is something i've talked to friends about here in the bible belt: accepting help from others is basically the WORST thing you can ever do, you might as well just roll over and die if you get to a point that not being able to do anything all on your own without "inconveniencing" others

and also stubbornly holding to doing something ridiculous and stupid even when you can see it is ACTIVELY hurting yourself or others is basically the default response because being RIGHT is more important than being CORRECT

as much as people want to talk about "southern hospitality" it's all an act, because if you actually ever NEED help, you ARE being judged by everyone, constantly, and it's absolute bullshit
