almost everything Avan does is basically the first thing that pops into his head, he just gets away with it by being so smart that the first thing that pops into his head will actually work

saying "closer to your time" instead of just "your t... is probably the closest Avan's going to get to telling Popp that he's figured out the dead thing, at least for a good long while
