[PSA] If anyone here's used 23andMe in the past, there's a high risk the company's gonna fold and your data will then be in the hands of whoever buys it from them (there was also a big data breach a while back, so keep that in mind as well). What happens to your genetic data if 23andMe is sold...
And while (to my knowledge) it hasn't been officially confirmed they're finally shuttering yet, uh.
Companies don't release official statements advising you about what's gonna happen to your data if the company suddenly has a new owner if things are going well
So if you've used them in the past but no longer do so, it would be a very good idea to go save anything you want to keep and then ask them to delete your info.
tl;dr version: combining a massive data breach + literally the entire board resigning at once while the company is already in dire straits, all at the same time, means no one expects it to last more than a year.
it's all but guaranteed there's going to be a lawsuit about what to do with any customer data once the company declares bankruptcy, and in that situation you really don't want to gamble on "when did you ask them to delete your data?" being a deciding factor on whether or not that, y'know, happens.
