I stopped by a store that was like Marshall's or TJ Maxx to pick up some supplies for our hotel room, and I found a stand that had fiber/knitting supplies and also cross-stitch patterns featuring anime characters from the 90s

there was one pattern of Utena and Anthy that I thought would be an amazing gift for Scout, but I was torn between either buying and giving them the kit, or buying the kit, doing the pattern myself, and gifting them the finished project--which would take an unknown amount of time for me to do

the pattern packaging indicated it was some fancy high-level mixed media piece, mostly cross-stitch but with some beading? and maybe painting? It required specialized tools which I didn't have and had never seen before. But oddly the package did not contain a picture of the final image. I knew it was Utena and Anthy but nothing beyond that
