I was trying so hard to hold off on a hysterectomy until I could cover Corsair's boarding costs on my own (by saving up very slowly from my SSI payments) but now I'm. Afraid if I don't do it NOW I won't be able to on Medicare.

This is the only small-scale pragmatic thing I can post about because anything else I say is either what everyone else is saying right now OR about the three hour psychosis-flavoured roller coaster ride my brain went on before I snapped out of it.

Where ish do you live? Because I probably can't help financially but maybe I could like, dogsit or something (I'm trying not to panic about medicaid/care suddenly not covering things too)

Naturalcyber: I'm in Michigan, but I also cannot stress enough that dogsitting Corsair would be a LOT to ask of someone LMAO he's a wonderful dog but he keeps busy

Yeah. I know he's a shepherd and what that entails. (But at least he's trained, unlike the 3 aussies I often had to take care of by myself before I moved to WI)

People think Aussies are house dogs because they're fluffy and cute but they're originally a herding, WORKING breed....

e_e I am sorry for your experience
aussies are NOT house dogs goddamn. (technically sunny isnt a house dog! we exhaust her with lots of play and she's learned to mellow out, but she loves having a task!)
(she's a cattle dog so she has that drive but. aussies are another TIER of that.)

I mean I wouldn't say that's small scale, it affects you and is important to you

Yeah. One of them taught herself how to open lever doors that she could push, and while she knew what come meant she would totally ignore it half the time. So she let herself out the backdoor down into the creek about Mm 8th/quarter mile down, through the sluice (?) Under the road before she was stopped

Not by me. But because her favorite ball (big as she was, marketed for herding dogs) got trapped in the "pool" on the other side of it. By ice. Because it was January. Also I was living in the allegany foothills at the time so please imagine steep banks that could be over 30 feet elevation change on each side

That dog is 12 years old now... and somewhat more compliant because of a shock collar, and can still run for hours without wanting to stop. So like, I know what I'm offering myself up for and yes it would be difficult for me but it's important and for a friend

if you put up a gofundme or whatever I should be able to chip in

(Also I'm positive Corsair would be much more patient with me needing to rest in between walking/bouts of play than any of the aussies ever were)

Naturalcyber: Oh he is VERY good at that. You can also just crate him with a benebone and he's fine that way. My primary concern is really just, his training and consistency in all that. e_e Normally I board him with the co-breeder who knows his rules really well

paperbacks: THANK YOU.... I will. Call the obgyn today and see what needs to happen, and go from. There.

That does make sense! I would need a little training myself as it were. (I mean it might not be a bad idea for me to ask about that since I'm considering trying to get a full service animal for my next pet rather than just emotional support but that's not exactly related to this plurk.) I do hope I can find a way to help somehow
