[digimon] got the new movie set, and I have a fun anecdote that’s absolutely delightful in the new dub of movie 3. Spoilers, I guess, if you’re waiting to watch it yourself:
Hurricane Touchdown/The Golden Digimentals was originally released in theaters split in half, with another film sandwiched in the middle, iirc. So at the end of Part 1, there’s a little bumper, and originally it gives the audience a message in English (since it takes place in the US) and Japanese.
The new dub... does the exact same thing! Part 1 ends with a cast saying the Japanese line in a chorus, and Part 2 begins with Brian Donovan’s Davis saying, “Saa, hajimari ze!” in Japanese.
Genuinely delightful.
Overall I have some minor critiques, but those largely seem to be on the fault of licensors. A very good package overall.
