update apparently the version of the music that hits my asmr is specifically the midi version

i discovered the FF8 remastered version they released and i was poking around about differences, discovered people were unhappy that the 2013 pc release (which is what ive been playing) has the midi music instead of the better quality PS1 music, and went ..........wait...............

the 2013 pc release is the one i grew up with

so i found an easy mod that installed updated music so i tried it and it just didnt hit the same

the one i grew up with was the oldddddd af one. the original pc release

so like. 2000 according to wiki

were there multiple pc releases!?

yeah!! there was an original one from 2000 with the four disks and everything

and then the 2013 steam release, and then a remastered one in 2017

i've also found myself longing for the bigass almost purely grayscale guide we used to have for it too... but that was two decades ago and it did not survive my family's various moves

also i learned if you play in japanese the ifrit cave is harder

the controls in the original are definitely hard to get used to now that i'm used to modern games...

i managed to kill it this time around and i can say that on one hand it's super satisfying, on the other hand you don't get the cool cutscene of quistis with a machine gun

thats tragic....................

i also learned that if when running from the spidercrab you detour into one of the shops it'll chase some other guys instead and you also don't get the quistis cutscene but it made me laugh

(i purposely tried to get a 0 score for fun so i learned a lot)

im so sad i cant talk to everyone if i want to score good

Consuming Dialogue is of utmost importance to me in most games so i'm like. sad hound dog eyes about it

this is why you save beforehand so you can get all the dialogue and then reload-- (this is also why i have not gotten very far)
