I got most of the Xmas stuff out... just need to finish decorating the tree with ornaments and do the outside lights

I want to get at least some presents wrapped this week, too, the ones that are going to be mailed

I wonder if I'll feel like baking extra stuff to give as gifts... I was going to bake some pumpkin and pear bread last year to give away, but didn't end up feeling like it so I didn't

woke up to find Moby had some garland stuck in his front teeth... hopefully he didn't actually ingest any of it...

usually if he eats something he's not supposed to he'll throw up a bunch so hopefully he's fine

first snow of the year. it won't last, but it's pretty outside right now

got all the Xmas lights up so I should be done decorating

I also got the presents organized, I just need to wrap a couple more and then finish messing with the gifts in bags

I'm going to have to do more baking this year than usual, since my mom wants extra cookies to give to her neighbors... and I need to make another cheese cake and IDK what else yet

well I was going to do some grocery shopping today, but google maps says the store's busier than usual so I guess not...

Moby is normally a pretty laid back cat, but today when I needed to put him in a carrier for his vet checkup he kangaroo kicked me in the face and launched himself across the room...

luckily he didn't scratch me too bad, I just have a couple nicks on my cheek

thankfully the cats are mostly ok. Hal and Caboose lost some weight, but the vet isn't too concerned about it yet. Hal may need thyroid meds at some point or the weight loss could just be due to loss of muscle... have to wait and see

I think I have all the ingredients to make gingerbread cookies... planning on baking them tomorrow

I got some whole nutmeg, I'll grate it instead of using ground nutmeg and see if it makes a difference in the recipe

fresh nutmeg is supposed to taste a lot better

nm I thought I had an unopened package of powdered sugar, but I do not so I will have to go get some after my dr appointment

there's supposed to be snow and freezing rain tomorrow so I don't think I'll want to wait to get it...

I saw an orange kitten on the deck last night, not the usual orange cat I feed, so I set out a trap tonight to see if he comes by again... hopefully if he does appear he goes in the trap and I don't catch an opossum or something

I tried to make the trap inviting, not only does it have food, but I put a soft cloth in it and covered it with a towel... so maybe a cat would prefer to go in there than eat out in the cold/sleet

ok gingerbread cookie dough is done... wait until tomorrow to bake and frost it... then decorate on Mon probably

I did a double batch so it'll take awhile... but so long as they're done by Tues it'll be fine

Wed I need to take Butch back out to the vet college, so that'll probably take up the afternoon

I did end up catching an opossum past night... didn't see the kitten

luckily opossums are docile and all I had to do was open the trap and wait for it to come back out on its own

I'll try again tonight. Maybe I'll stay up later and give the kitten more time to show up

I feel like going back to bed already, even though I overslept this morning

gotta get the cookies done...

blurgh I don't like icing cookies.. it's time consuming and not even a little fun, like when it comes to decorating

plus my icing skills aren't great, so I'm always afraid they'll come out just looking weird
