Since it's that time of year, tell me: what is your guilty-pleasure holiday song? A song that's got a bad reputation, considered hokey or whatever, but you unironically enjoy
This plurk brought to you by the Jonathan Coulton concert last night, where he brutally satirized Jingle Bell Rock--which I admit isn't a great song but I actually enjoy it (though I also enjoyed the heck out of his skewered version). Possibly because I associate it with Home Alone, one of my favorite Christmas movies when I was a kid
I also unironically enjoy "Mary, Did You Know?" despite its hokey sentimentality
Also, feel free not to limit your answer to Christmas songs!
Agree on "Mary, Did You Know?" honestly
it's incredibly cheesy but it also sure makes me feel feelings so
Last Christmas, I’ve always liked it. It’s musically upbeat while having slightly melancholy lyrics which always hits me right during the holidays.
Dealing with depression during the holidays makes me averse to overly cheery songs but I’m not anti-Christmas or looking for additional sadness, so Last Christmas hits a sweet spot
Also Bruce Springsteen’s version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town which is the perfect song for spending Christmas with your adult friends getting a bit goofy.
I love Mary Did You Know!
I always dance to Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree. XD
My favorite song is Breath of Heaven, by far, but... Carol of the Bells is high up there too
qzzus: SANTA GONNA BRING YOU A NEW SAXOPHONE
Anyway favorite Christmas song is the Burl Ives version of Holly Jolly Christmas, that’s probably not an unpopular opinion but yeah
And I can’t say a bad word about Jingle Bell Rock as it was apparently my favorite lullaby as a babby. It would put me right out no matter what time of year.
I don't feel guilt about any of these but: Santa Baby, Baby It's Cold Outside, Last Christmas, Wonderful Christmastime, Jingle Bell Rock, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
FullOfBees okay that is genuinely cute to picture ^.^
