it's like a find the differences picture
Based on the fat (but mostly not sat fat) I"m betting one's more oil added by weight of can.
also I find that wildly frustrating and upsetting
well, also the lower fat has the higher carb?
also thats' a random ass guess because the carbs being different and protein the same is also fucking weird.
Different oyster species?
but... what carbs are in OIL or Oysters?
Nope, same species on both
Crassotrea Gigas on both boxes
i find this so upsetting...my first thought it "is one of these super expired and like the can's packaging hasn't changed but the contents have?"
one has twice the iron? and 13 more calcium and 40 less Potassium?
apparently there should be about 4 carbs per 3 ounces of oysters?
it's just all kinds of weird as hell here but please if you open them and notice a difference report back
we really gonna add almost 10g more fat. sorry. what.
and 20mg more sodium in one
and it can't be the oil since it says 1 can, drained for the serving size
and upon reflection the nutrition info is for 'drained' too
it honestly just keeps being baffling
if you look on the FRONT it says 180 calories
but on the back of one it says 200 calories
but that's also the one that says 17 g fat. so. that makes sense?
the increase in fat is truly baffling to me
which... has different numbers in some spots than both
this is the weirdest puzzle/glitch thing ever
but also weirdly fascinating
here's what Instacart Aldi says
i suppose there could be misprints on some of their labels...
illusen: that's what I was thinking but like, nothing quite matches with anything else
right! and if other places have something sort of close to the one package, PLUS the 200 calorie one has 180 on the front....i'd imagine that one got printed by accident or something
which is closer to the one that's far off from the other ones on the internet
"Product of China" says it all, really.
"Put some numbers on there, it'll be fine. It just needs to look right."
i would send this to the company cause now its bugging me lol
I agree. Ngl, I probably wouldn't ever have noticed because I look at the label once upon a nah.
what actually worries me is the one that says 13g of carbs. what if this is a snack a diabetic eats and using the label to bolus insulin for 13g when the other label is the real one
Oh yeah, absolutely a huge issue. Not to mention the inconsistency in fats which can aggravate quite a few health issues.
like granted, i wouldnt expect that many carbs in oysters but i've been diabetic for almost 20 years. if you're a baby diabetic, you're learning to read and trust labels as a guideline for everything
It might be why it went to Aldi? Because Aldi does buy discontinued and overstock, so this label inconsistency might be why this product got discontinued and ended up at Aldi.
and they've had this product for a while
(I follow some tin fish forums)
but I was checking all my tin fish since a lot of them are seasoned since I'm on a low carb diet at the moment
I wish I trusted Aldi. The last time I went to one, we brought home cockroaches in the box they gave us for our groceries.
(Which I know is a reflection on that particular store instead of the brand, but yeah.)
o.O that's terrible. I mean, I know roaches lay eggs in cardboard, so in some sense it's not that shocking, but OTOH...
yeah some kind of misprint is my best guess. seconding sending this to the company and asking wtf
Your Case Number: 01191495
hopefully Aldi will have an answer to this mystery
I wonder if one of them could be... Fake? Changed formula? But that's just very weird! I'm very interested to know what they'll reply saying.
