the recent expansion of dwarven expeditions has, naturally, run afoul of the undead dungeons, and what few old world dwarfs can be distracted from mining or smithing form corps to deal with these incursions until the hole has been sealed up

kazarka (kaz for short), born under the sign of fur'ai (not that they know what that even is) took to this with gusto, as their unusual height made mining awkward, and despite their best efforts, they just don't have any talent for smithing

it was there that they discovered something (by the standards of the highly repressed throngs) horrifying about themself:

as they carved apart feral zombies and drew black blood, a single thought crept to the forefront of their mind. "I want to do this to a person so badly"

which, as someone who's not acquainted with the sexual aspect of sadism, seems like a deep personal flaw and something that makes them a monster

it was while they were having a quiet crisis about this that they heard rumors of a practice in the world above, a set of ironclad paths to enforce self-control

they think that's EXACTLY what they need, and venture to the world above to become a paladin

an arc about like. slowly unrepressing and embracing that aspect of herself while learning that paladinhood isn't all about regimented discipline and there are actual constructive things that the order contributed

being put in sexy situations and realizing that she likes them and that she should let herself like them

also sorry for another ping malkuthsoldier, but as you're more experienced, do you think that this is like. tone-appropriate for v&v or is it too serious

I think it works personally!

I feel like it might be "too serious" if you were picking any class other than the paladin

but that's like the paladin's gimmick

even then I don't think it would ultimately be. Like unrepressing is absolutely an arc many a dwarf in this setting has gone on.

Like the setting I think is good for "Yes you can have a cool, even dark backstory, but you will also slip on the metaphorical banana peel, which may also be a dick"

and I feel like having someone who's like. new to this whole scene and coming to grips with that she's into it (and occasionally denying that she is while blushing and stuttering) is a good counterpoint to a party that's largely sexually liberated. dynamics!

the thing is, once she gets the beard off and figures out which gender she wants to be, kaz is actually really physically attractive (especially if you like scars), but people can smell the repression from a mile away which gives her an abysmal hotness score

I have to admit my mental image for kaz right now is just albino namari but like. that's a REALLY good mental image
