OH YEAH I realized that this is very American and not everyone is going to know what the Oregon Trail is lmao

basically: it was one of THE first edutainment games and also one of the best ones, most people of my generation have fond memories of playing this game either at school or at home

it's a management sim about taking a group of settlers west in covered wagons to the Oregon territory (now the states Oregon and Idaho)... it became memeable because it was very easy to mess up and die either from sickness or bad weather or even getting washed away by rivers

hence this becoming a meme once enough time progressed for memes to exist
