Gonna pick up on this more later, but I finished the Slippery Creatures audiobook and started The Sugared Game yesterday

And noted two things

1. Actually being able to hear the accent is doing wonders for my feel of Will's voice in writing him

2. Will does actually say what Northamptonshire village he's from! At the beginning of Sugared Game he says he's from Bugbrooke

That's been driving me nuts cause I didn't remember him ever saying any more specific than Northamptonshire which is a large area

So Will has the Military Cross with 3 bars. According to the wiki, only 4 soldiers ever have received three bars on their cross.

(Also hilariously there is a William Darling who did earn the Cross with one bar and was mentioned in dispatches in real life, but he was a Scottish politician)
