but in 7R he seems to be a self-aware AI? like Chadley or w/e his name is

self-contained, bc he doesn't seem to be actively aware of what/where other CS units are at the same time, but maybe the data gets uploaded to a cloud when one unit gets destroyed so another can find where it left off easily and reclaim the tech

and either made or programmed by Reeve, so it's either outright modelled off of his consciousness or osmosed his morals/ethics during the production process?

bc we see Reeve in actual meetings during the game where he's very obviously present and aware at the same time as the other members of Shinra

in the dirge they're both together in some scenes so he seems to be able to move on his own at times

reeve also purposely does the voice and gets caught doing it at least once lmao

yeah, it might be that he can be remotely controlled on command, maybe reeve has hardware installed in his brain or something

I know some of guide books say he has "inspire" as an ability that can possibly bring machines to life? but idk if they're going with that overall

so CS is still basically a sock puppet, just a much more sophisticated one

bc i do remember sometimes we see him just spaced out with the gang for a minute, which would presumably be when Reeve is taking over control

reeve can make some complicated devices though .. like in dirge he's controlling cait sith who is inside a fake Reeve look alike bot

so i've played 7OG like, once, and we've been playing 7R together

I believe also in Remake this was further expanded on (though I may have read it in another writeup like later in the Dirge book) that the 'kansai/scots' accent Cait Sith speaks in is from where Reeve came from vs his city accent

Anyway his ability to control or project himself into the animatronics is in fact a unique gift of his.

Another thing to keep in mind is that with Dirge, at least, (and Remake because of Chadley/etc) that neural data copies are perfectly within Shinra's tech, even back when Vincent was an active Turk.

So it could very well be a semi-autonomous copy but also one he can focus on too

(Though in Rebirth they show downtime moments a lot more iirc)

And we see in Dirge that when he's not completely focused on separate movements, the puppet will copy him. XD

Another another thing interesting about Reeve! is that while his age (38 at Dirge) makes it unlikely he was responsible for the first reactor tech, he is listed as having a strong part in the design of the more modern reactors or at lesast some of the internal things. Maybe materia/mako processing or redesinging them into a more efficient reactor.

You'll have to hunt around for that more.

I just know it was part of the OG/AC/Dirge timeline vs Remake's take.

Vincent Meets Reeve | Dirge of Cerberus: FF7Context: Vincent is in Kalm (3 years after FF7, 1 year after Advent Children) to meet with Reeve to talk about something that's happening.

Kalm is having a festival commemorating the full rebuild of Kalm/Meteorfall/etc after all the stuff that happened. Suddenly mysterious forces from Tron (not really but the glow suits!) attack.

Yeah. SO the prequel book for AC has some stuff with Reeve that's worth a read and there's a full cutscene video on youtube that... you don't really have a lot of dialogue in gameplay so you'll get most everything you need from that.
