I definitely remember reading bits of the first book at a bookstore and rolling my eyes at the blatant Kurt Cobain references that were everywhere

because even in manga, Courtney Love can never escape being attached to her late legend-status husband (nor does she seem particularly bothered by it in real life, so... sure, I guess, why not?)

ofc it all makes way more sense when you know the real driving force behind it was a middle-aged male executive with some musical aspirations

as someone who read Princess Ai at some point but literally knew nothing about the background of the series this is all wild
