plz, I need people to see this movie so we can get an anime about beautiful elves next time.......

tl;dr is it's a solid war movie.... I do not know or care what chuds think, but despite the protag being a woman it does still cleave pretty closely to Tolkien esque lore. she is badass sure but she is not necessarily rewarded for it

(except the ending is def in line with her personality AND again, still cleaves close to something Tolkien would have written)

lots of people die ofc but damn, I gotta say.... the anime format is really the only thing that could do Helm Hammerhand justice, that man is a beast

I think the movie plays it pretty safe honestly.... it's a decent war movie in an LotR format with LotR esque themes but it doesn't do anything really unique

which..... considering how vicious some fans and chuds can be, esp after the Rings of Power fan reactions, yeah I can see why they made that choice

I'm not a huge fan of the human societies in Tolkien's lore but hell, even if you're a casual LotR fan it's good enough for the price of the movie ticket

if it had been about any of the non-humans I probably would've been more hype than just saying 'it's good' but yeah

also Miranda Otto narrates as Eowyn and they got Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan to do the voices of a couple of orcs that briefly show up.... both of which was really nice

oh and the credits song is SUPER pretty
