that is insufficient foundation for me to care if they hook up

they need an actual dynamic

write it like yuribait. give them a dynamic that would have to be compelling enough to drive the characters as a pair even if you were forbidden to have them kiss

They can hook up on that basis if it's a minor side detail of the 'hey we decided to date so we'll see how this goes' variety, but it needs more to it if it's going to be something I'm expected to be emotionally invested in.
