What is the problem? Is iTunes trying to control your entire collection? Or is it something else?

the problem is iTunes doesn't 'find' my music collection after it is moved & I've identified the location of the library in the advanced tab

you must move the library file along with your music.

the iTunes Library file and the iTunes Library.xml file. they have to be one level outside the iTunes Music folder.

make sense? I've had the same problem and had to reimport everything and it took forever, until i learned this tricl.
