I personally think inflation adjusted is not a good measure, cause there are so many factors

like they don't have DVD and blu rays in 1939

and film-tech improvement should be accounted for, so I think nominal ranking is fair game

so the way you explain it, seems like there is no perfect way of counting.

also inflation adjusted is domestic based stats, there wasn't an international film market before 1990

i like neither.

i do like the movie though. rankings are always contested and over-analyzed/criticized anyway

i tend to prefer unit sales counts rather than gross amount counts. heads rather than ticket price..
