i wish i didn't live in america. seriously. after researching our food, where it comes from, and how its now "created" instead of grown-
i feel like i'm dooming my child to have a lifetime of illnesses due to the greed and extreme evil of the powers that be. obesity, heart-
failure, as well as the string of maladies that seem to plague "only certain communities" didn't get that way by accident- our food is being
controlled, poisoned, infested with nanochemicals, and more...all because companies decide that they want to make an extra buck.
its really, truly sad to think that as humans we've lost touch with each other to the point where we'd consciously kill a whole sect-
of people of whom we don't deem worthy. thing is, according to history this is not new.
one thing that has been really eating at me is "brand snobs" in regards to food; the leading brands (kraft, cambell's soup, etc) have been-
adding chemicals that alter our dna in everyday products, but yet some people refuse to purchase "off brand" foods.
when i was vegan, i only purchased my foods from farmers markets or places like trader joes/whole foods and guess what- i was no healthier.
LizzieLexington: i totally agree, and that has been proven actually. its why you'll notice that we're all built bigger and "meatier" than-
Mashimaro_Oh: and you know what (and welcome!!!
), that's how i feel now, because i'm damned either way.
because i'm a bleeding heart, after watching "Food Inc" i cried. it really just hurt to think about how cruel people are to each other.
Mashimaro_Oh: i agree- that's a major problem as well...but my thing is, what if you eat "right", watch your portions, count calories-
all to find out that even the basic vegetables you eat are laden in pesticides and things that will eventually cause you to die-
earlier than you should? what then? would you continue to eat "right" ?
i was raised on happy meals, ramen noodles, and nuclear orange kraft macaroni and cheese "dinner." i don't expect to reach 60.
i am trying; i'm finding foods without corn syrup and eating them as often as i can. i'm trying to reduce the amount of chemicals and
manufactured (not grown) food that i eat but it's not easy because it's everywhere.
i would like to say "fuck it all" and go back to eating everything that just tastes good, except i noticed i feel miserable when id o that.
Just_Is: welcome!
and yes, i feel the same way...i try HARD to keep my family as healthy as possible, but i feel like i'm fighting-
i don't know about the DNA altering thing. that doesn't sound right to me. but you can always avoid foods from certain companies.
i don't think there's much you can do about this, sadly. the best you can do is choose a variety of colorful foods for your child(ren) and
keep them active and teach them how to eat. i was never taught how to eat properly, and it's affecting me in adulthood.
a losing battle. and i'm not sure if its hype or not, but there's been a lot of talk about the effects of nanotechnology on human dna.
Just_Is: i agree, and thanks for the advice. i'm certain its not much we can do, though.
Mashimaro_Oh: fine!
*stomps off to the freezer and gets an ice cream sandwich* KamiJay: i just read the vegetarian part, so i'm sure you already know to do that. i think the sad part is that it's not only the least
we can do, it's also the best we can do at this point. i do wish my sister would teach her children to have better diets, and turn off the
video game consoles more often, but that's not going to happen any time soon, unfortunately.
Mashimaro_Oh: it costs more here as well, if you price it out as compared to a meal that can last 2-3 days.
Just_Is: yup...i agree. i'll try my best, but its equally as hard not to sneak her doritos or corn dogs every now and then.
ShanaPizzy: that's how i started too! took away beef and pork at 18, then chicken/eggs, then dairy...i was eating grass for like a year.
i did feel better; my body felt lighter...but i missed hamburgers.
ShanaPizzy: yea, those were the hardest to get rid of, especially scrimps.
ShanaPizzy: mmmhm...i'm making a pot of that tonight, actually!
whaaaaaaaa girllll i'm from baltimore...i can point you in a lot of different places- lemme look
