Miss Twinky says
I know when I tried to download AVG or spybot but it blocks them
Miss Twinky says
i cant do system restore or even get onto add/remove programs
Miss Twinky says
it even blocks task manager
Miss Twinky says
says everything is infeted and asks if i am ready to buy their antivurus
Miss Twinky says
ok, it is running a diagnostice right now
Miss Twinky says
i will try as soon as it's done
Miss Twinky says
will any of them get rid of the virus for free?
Miss Twinky says
this snuck in through that vulnerability that mocr0soft released the patch for yesterday
████████ says
avast ftw
Miss Twinky says
yeah, he had antivirus, Norton
Miss Twinky says
yeah, i have used avast
Miss Twinky says
this virus will not let anything install
Miss Twinky says
i have never seen anything so nasty
Miss Twinky says
all in an attempt to seel some stupid antivirus program
████████ says
Well don't let it get too far like mine did. Avast and every other program we had couldn't get rid of it.
Miss Twinky says
sell*
████████ says
It caused my computer to slow, crash.. and then go to the blue screen about my computer being damaged. I lost everything
Miss Twinky says
i am ready to just reinstall windows, but it is a process on a netbook
████████ says
God, I HOPE you can get rid of it. Viruses suck so bad :-(
Miss Twinky says
I would never buy their product after they hijacked the computer
████████ says
Yeah.. You're better off doing that or maybe a system restore? I was told that system restores can get rid of viruses.. idk how effective
████████ says
it'll be though
████████ says
Do you know the name of the virus?
Miss Twinky says
it wont let me open system restore
Miss Twinky says
yes Envi
Miss Twinky says
Antivir is the name of it
Miss Twinky says
it blocks everything i try to do
████████ says
it has a step by step removal instruction guide for you right on that webpage
Miss Twinky says
yeah, I think we all searched it at the same time LOL
████████ says
If that doesn't work or help, I suggest doing a System Restore or reformating. I know reformating is a long process, but it's worth it ^_^
████████ says
LOL yeah
Miss Twinky says
the first thing it tells me to do is open task manager, this thing wont let me
████████ says
Damn, it's blocked you out completely
████████ says
My last virus, everytime I opened every program including taskmanager.. it tried to tell me it was a virus
Miss Twinky says
yep, that's what this one does
if u still dont have it fixed pp me.
Miss Twinky says
sorry Envi, it will not let me open that program either
Miss Twinky says
I have to be able to log in as administrator and I cant do that either
isle says
isle says
if it is xp pro. if not, win 7 should have the ability to fix it as well, google may help there.
isle says
I am trying to recall what program I used to solve a problem like this.
isle says
isle says
go a bit down the page to **How to remove the Antivir Solution Pro virus** as it describes how to download a seperate program on a diff
isle says
computer, since Antivir is very active on the infected one and will interfere.
isle says
Then put that program on a cd or stick and transfer it onto the desktop of the infected notebook and run it.
isle says
The instructions look pretty good.
isle says
I suggest using AVG Antispyware after the iExplore.exe
isle says
since it is free and updates well. What I do is install it, update it, then run a full scan, get rid of the bad things, then I uninstall.
isle says
That way it doesnt run in the background and annoy me by using CPU when I dont need it. And FYI. I am a tech. This is what I do.
twinky_jinxing: to log in as admin open cmd prompt in admin mode type "net user administrator /active:yes" and reboot. when ur done undo
Miss Twinky says
i cant log in as admin, i have tried
Miss Twinky says
i cant even get into the registry
isle says
Did you see my link?
isle says
(to the page that explains what to do )
Miss Twinky says
yes, I am working on it now, the iExplore tool has disabled it! now I am running scans, Thank you Isle!! (cozy)
isle says
(cozy) the AVG antispyware rocks btw. Just put it on a stick and run it now and then (if you got it)
Miss Twinky says
yeah, I am installing it now
isle says
You can keep it installed if you like, it is just that the guard.exe that runs in the background used to take up some of my CPU, and if
isle says
he is running a netbook, he doesnt have a lot to spare... it is easy enough to uninstall after anyway.
isle says
mind you, it might not make much diff, and if it was there, he could scan every couple days.
Miss Twinky says
i will just tell him to keep it, he does not have and virus protection on it otherwise
isle says
Unfortunately, these 'malware' scam viruses don't get caught by Avast or Norton because they are usually installed accidentally on purpose
Miss Twinky says
they piss me off
isle says
the kind he has is a nasty bastard. I have taken out lots like those, but they are not esy since they do cut off internet and admin privs
Miss Twinky says
I cant believe how fat that iExplore sucked it right out of there!
Miss Twinky says
fast*
isle says
it has several things built in, it undoes the task manager lock out (kind of) and allows changes, stops the program from running,
isle says
and allows it to be deleted. Some of them are so bad that even if you delete them, they reproduce frm cache files& are back when you reboot
isle says
you should be good after the scans. just do the suggested thing after it scans, if it finds stuff. Usually that means vault or delete.
Miss Twinky says
yes, this one did come back after a reboot
Miss Twinky says
so i had to take it out again
Miss Twinky says
i also got the security patch from windows
Miss Twinky says
that was so nasty
isle says
good. if it comes back again, do this whole thing in safe mode, so it will be pulled out properly without the comp being in windows
isle says
sometimes if the nasty is running in windows, it keeps like a ghost of itself in the OS and restores it.
Miss Twinky says
i thought we would have to take it to get fixed
Miss Twinky says
jeez, what a pain
isle says
(I mean the comp is in windows but in safe mode windows only starts essential things, so the virus wouldnt be running)
Miss Twinky says
yeah, it was blocking safe mode before
isle says
twinky_jinxing: but if you get it fixed, it is a good feeling :-)
Miss Twinky says
it blocked everything i tried
Miss Twinky says
ty so much
Miss Twinky says
yes it is
Miss Twinky says
a good learning experience as well
isle says
welcome :-) have you figured out how it got on?
Miss Twinky says
i have no idea
isle says
sometimes, most times, people will download it when they go to a site and get a popup that says "Your computer has 523 viruses! click here
isle says
to run a scan now"
Miss Twinky says
yeah
Miss Twinky says
then they hold your computer hostage
Miss Twinky says
i would die before i paid them a penny
isle says
etc. Sometimes, on the bad ones, even trying to click out will nail you.
Miss Twinky says
I would pay twice what they were asking to get it fixed if i hade to
isle says
unfortunately, enough people do pay to make them keep doing it. makes me angry.
Miss Twinky says
yes
Miss Twinky says
if only they used their powers for good instead of evil
isle says
:-)
Miss Twinky says
at least there are people out there finding ways to fight them
Miss Twinky says
it's a never ending battle though
Miss Twinky says
it's fixed!
